Hello
Im hoping you can help me on this one. I created a dating website about 11 months ago now and ive been steadily submitting my site to wed directories and article directories and a few search engines ever since.
I had a page rank of 4 and i had approx 20-25 people on my site at any given point in time. Google has crawled my site and my rankings have now gone down to 2 but my traffic still seems constant if not a little higher.
I know ive gone through vmoptions free directory list over the last two months and my site has been submitted to them all plus a few on directorycritic and directoryrate. Ive also used a few ghost writing and article submission services. But ive not done anything ive not done in the past so i cant understand why ive been penalized.
Ive also checked my main rivals links on alexa.com and a few other link checking services and submitted my site to them as well.
Ive also noticed that when i pull my site up on google it doesnt seem to have my site description as well. It has the name of the site and then just all the sub pages like Login, Register, Affiliates etc. Can you give me an idea on this one as its been niggling at me for some time now.
Many Thanks
Sorry for ranting on but this has just ticked me off and im now wondering why i put all that work in and ive got nothing in return.
Again Thanks and look forward to everyones response.

I doubt it is a penalty because others are complaining about serp fluctuations as well.
Read the article, at the URL below.

Make every effort to diversify your backlink profile.

Thanks snowbird for link i will take some time to read through all the links and articles. One small question though you mention "diversify backlink profile" could you elaborate a little more on that subject.
cheers

One small question though you mention "diversify backlink profile" could you elaborate a little more on that subject.
Before I get to that, let me address a few other issues with your site first.
1. The reason why your site has no description in the search engines is because your meta description is empty.
<meta name="description" content="" />
2. Your internal linking structure has some issues, specifically with your homepage. The URL below is how you link to "Home."
http://247sexysingles.com/index.php?dll=index
3. If your affiliates link to your homepage, with a simple "?SOMETHING" attached to the end of your URL, they too could be creating boatloads of duplicate content problems for you. I did not check if that's the case, but I've dealt with it many times before with those running affiliate programs.
4. Also, your site has pages indexed with the "www" and without. You should correct this problem and build backlinks to the version you ultimately decide to use (probably the non www since that already has the most pages indexed).
Notice how the URL above is a PR 1 vs the PR 2 of your top level domain. Google is treating these as two separate pages, even though they have the same content. In other words, you have a duplicate content issue with your homepage.
There are additional links you can get for your site outside of web/article directories which you do not have to pay for. I really won't go into detail, especially in a public forum. But I will say that you can do some research into different link building methods that still comply with Google's guidelines.
If you have a small SEO budget, and don't want to perform this research, let me know. I'm sure I could point you in the right direction with some specifics.

Many thanks snowbird
I will correct those issues first on thursday when its my first day off, so i can concentrate on the matter at hand. I didnt know about the duplicate page issue i will have to investigate that matter more in depth as im not sure how that works and exactly how to resolve.
I will pm you shortly for the right way to go about seo because i do have a small budget at the moment as ive just paid for christmas and my new website deposit as well.

Yeap, snowbird is right about your site being SEO un-friendly.
Whoever build your pages guffed big way and forgot to develop Description for your site and instead added to your meta tags something Google care less, keywords.
BTW, you still have no description.
May I ask you why not?

Hiya
Thanks for taking interest fastreplies.
The reason why is basically what you stated the software developer has messed the script up a little bit and ive spoken to other webmasters who have similar script and they have the same issue.
But no major problem as im having a new website script installed on my site next week which will resolve the problems and because im no html wizard etc the guy who designed the script will be sorting all the duplicate pages issue and site description out as well as a little bonus.
Cheers:)

I know this is changing the subject slightly but i have a quick question.
In the signature strip ive put a full description and i was wondering how you put a few keywords and once clicked it redirects you to my site for example

Just type whatever you would like to say, for example: AMRAY Web Directory.
Then highlight keyword, for example AMRAY and click Insert Link icon.
Enter domain to site you want in pop up window. You done!
