Have a question, pardon if I am in the wrong area.

Question.....I realize social bookmarking is big, but if you view the source, and it says no follow... google does not follow correct?

So all those deep links, are not being followed.... is the purpose of the social book marks if others should come upon your site?

There are many do follow social bookmarking sites. So if you are looking to get PR / SERP benefit use those.

I use social bookmarking sites to get my internal pages indexed quickly and I get loads of traffic from these sites.

That is correct Michele, if the link has rel=nofollow, Google will not follow it. Yahoo and Live/MSN also recognize nofollow although each handles it different. For example, Yahoo will still crawl the page while Google won't.

Many social bookmarking sites use a pligg core/platform. Many of these use 301 permanent redirects for outbound links. Even though those backlinks will not show up in backlink checks, they will provide some SEO benefit.

As SEOGuy said try to Google for do-follow social bookmark list. Install a firefox addon to identify no-follow attribute. Then try to maximize to post to do-follow sites.

Going back to your topic, no follow also a source of backlink ans traffic. So it doesnt matter if a bookmarking site is a no follow one cause it helps in different way.

Deep links in a social bookmarking site will not follow if the site is a no-follow one however you can still have a benefits from it because you can get a traffic. Remember if a site is a do follow you will get back link plus a traffic.
