For everyone!

People think that having a blog or forum will automatically produce $ or that it will become successful. That is NOT the case. You have to work hard to promote those sites and then monetize them.

Also, some people aren't simply capable of running a blog/forum as they lack some qualities. Are they doomed? No, they are just more suited for making other sites or for making a blog/forum in another niche as the one they are currently in might not match up too well with their knowledge and ability.

the easiest way to promote your blog is to wrote a unique and fresh content for your blog then ping your blog every updates and and use your link on your signature .

a decent site with original content can help you in earning sitting at home. why only adsense there are bunch of other ad networks (http://www.statbrain.com/ad-networks/) like Bidvertiser, Clicksor, Oxado, YPN etc...
you can use list of ad networks that shows the most popular advertising networks similar to Google Adsense. you can also trackdown visitor data with information about number of links that point towards the site.
So yes it does help, if you are putting in too much of efforts!

visitors here are sometimes important because they will be curious on the signature that you were carrying on the site.
