There was an interesting article that appeared on US Today’s website earlier this year. The article provided 5 SEO suggestions from Matt Cutts. Matt is the Google representative on all things SEO related. What Matt shared was very basic information. However, if you read the whole article he reveals something very interesting about
keyword density.
Matt explained that the search engines have gotten very good at figuring out what your web pages keywords are. He indicated that your keywords only need to appear 2 or 3 times on your page. I read that and I said wow. I had suspected this for sometime and now there it was in print.
I was a bit amazed that so many blogs picked up this story but overlooked the keyword density part in their posts. So I thought I would share this again.

That's a nice article and should clear up the myths about overuse of keywords. Thanks for providing the link to the full story. It's a nice read!

Your welcome. What I find amazing is that I have seen dozens of threads and blog posts about this article and none of them talked about keyword density. They all referenced the 5 basic tips. I thought the only useful thing was the reference to keyword density.

Keyword Density:
The measurement of how frequently any given keyword appears within a web page. Too high a density can result in a web page being classified as spam while too low a density will cause a page to not be indexed as well for the given keyword. :D
Did you read the article? Matt makes it very clear on this subject. Keyword density is a myth.
I think Matt Cutts as a google representative of course will make some tactics in order to protect the organic search result....who knows he mihgt be telling out some this like myths in order to drive SEO around...for example the google sandbox if it was a myth then why other sites from some articles proves that it hit them....though of course matt cutts won't tell anything beyond from G's algo....

Interesting, I tend to believe him... He is not a bit player at Google. His name appears on many of their patent applications.
