I think both are important for any website. But density is more important compare to prominence.

Both are playing equal part but keyword density carries little bit more importance because if the keyword density is too low, it is not going to give you expected traffic and if the keyword density is too high then also it is going to affect your traffic. So you need to give a little bit more importance to keyword density.

Keyword density refers to the ratio (percentage) of keywords contained within the total number of indexable words within a web page.

Keyword prominence refers to how prominent keywords are within a web page.

Both are important for any website.

As above mate said, first select the keywords by doing keyword analysis, then check for the prominence and then add / increase the density accordingly.
